Allestree's FAVOURITE FOOD PUB
With hundreds of years at the heart of the community, our country pub has long been a favourite with locals and ramblers alike.
Generations of Allestree residents have used The Red Cow for weddings, christenings and birthdays. And nothing’s changed in that respect. As a traditional Derbyshire coaching inn we like to keep things simple: quality beers, great value pub-food and a friendly service. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do, set off on one of the many nearby walks or simply soak up the scenery in our beer garden. Cozy up in our comforting bar area with a hot drink or if you fancy something a little stronger enjoy a Gin and Tonic from our ever expanding Gin Range.

Best pub food in the area Just eaten a selection from the Tapas menu and one of our party had a regular main course. Absolutely superb food, well presented and matches all the good tapas places in Prestbury/Manchester, where I'm from. Conscientious staff and a nice setting. By far the best pub food in Allestree and easily rival's the local gastro pubs in the area. Great to see the pub back at the top again.
Amazing food and service Food was lovely, proper homemade food and service was excellent. The waitress was lovely and very attentive.
Faultless Christmas Dinner! Absolutely stunning beef Rossini Christmas dinner at The Red Cow. The staff were fabulous, we were very well looked after to make our Christmas Day very special. Thank you
Amazing Food First visit to the Red Cow for food. Cosy pub great menu plenty of choice. Our party of 4 chose Fish Pie, Liver and Bacon and Steak pie x 2. Fish pie was a very large portion in a dish with mash and veg. The pies had light pastry filled to the brim with chunks of steak, chunky chips and vegetables. Liver was soft perfectly cooked with mash and peas. The gravy was to die for! Desserts were chocolate brownie and strawberry cheesecake all with ice cream. Great value and very tasty. Only downside was our waitress who seemed to be on speed pills. Everything was done at 100mph ! She slammed the drinks down on the table so hard she slopped the beers all over the table no apology. Same with our meals they were slammed down also, she seemed in such a hurry yet we were the only ones eating so not rushed at all. The older waitress was great and made us very welcome we will be back definitely.
Not disappointed Warm and friendly atmosphere. Great meal and very friendly staff. Have never been disappointed when I have been there.
Nice and relaxing evening very friendly atmosphere and staff. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was to die for with plenty of choice. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the Redcow for a lovely evening.
We will be back! Lovely evening, great food (compliments to the chef). Wonderful staff and a brilliant atmosphere. Thank you all.
