Allestree's FAVOURITE FOOD PUB
With hundreds of years at the heart of the community, our country pub has long been a favourite with locals and ramblers alike.
Generations of Allestree residents have used The Red Cow for weddings, wakes and birthdays. And nothing’s changed in that respect. As a traditional Derbyshire coaching inn we like to keep things simple: quality beers, great value pub-food and a friendly service. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do, set off on one of the many nearby walks or simply soak up the scenery in our beer garden. Cozy up in our comforting bar area with a hot drink or if you fancy something a little stronger enjoy a Gin and Tonic from our ever expanding Gin Range.

Host to the local community for hundreds of years offering fantastic service, beautiful food, cask ales, and an ever expanding gin collection if you fancy something stronger.
Popular with families, ramblers and dog walkers alike, we are perfectly placed for a visit to Allestree Park and Hall. You can even bring your four legged friend to visit us in the bar area, where we also serve food or a hot drink to warm you up.

From as far afield as Durham, Basingstoke and South Wales. Diane and her team made us really welcome and the food was fabulous. Definitely going to be an annual event.Neil H03/02/2024Quick bite and a pint. Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat last night, Fancied the loaded nachos with chilli con carne on top with a side of crispy pork belly bites and bbq dip, it was delicous and even though a bar snack I couldnt finish it.Andy I18/01/2024Best pub food in the area Just eaten a selection from the Tapas menu and one of our party had a regular main course. Absolutely superb food, well presented and matches all the good tapas places in Prestbury/Manchester, where I'm from. Conscientious staff and a nice setting. By far the best pub food in Allestree and easily rival's the local gastro pubs in the area. Great to see the pub back at the top again.Anouska T29/12/2023Amazing food and service Food was lovely, proper homemade food and service was excellent. The waitress was lovely and very attentive.
